Professional Speakers

Professional Speakers

OMB professional speakers are designed for live sound reinforcement, events, touring and fixed audio installations where sound clarity, output capability and reliable system operation matter.

Our professional speaker range includes DSP-controlled active loudspeakers and column speaker systems designed for different venue sizes and sound reinforcement requirements. Backed by OMB's experience in professional amplifiers, active amplifier modules and DSP development, we focus not only on the loudspeaker itself but also on the interaction between drivers, amplification and signal processing.

Whether you are selecting speakers for stage performances, conferences, event rental or installed sound, OMB can help you build a professional audio system around your required coverage, output and application.

Professional Speaker Solutions for Different Sound Systems

Choosing a professional speaker starts with the application rather than simply selecting the highest wattage.

OMB provides speaker options for different professional audio environments.

Speaker TypeBest Suited ForMain Considerations
Professional Active SpeakersLive events, stages, rental systems, mobile PAIntegrated amplification, DSP, output level and portability
Column Speaker SystemsConferences, presentations, events and distributed soundWide coverage, speech intelligibility and compact installation
DSP-Controlled SpeakersProfessional sound reinforcement and system tuningEQ, crossover, limiter and system optimization
Professional PA SpeakersPerformances, commercial venues and general sound reinforcementSPL, coverage, frequency range and reliability

For larger sound reinforcement projects, speaker selection should also take venue dimensions, audience size, required sound pressure level and subwoofer configuration into account.

Active vs. Passive Professional Speakers

One of the first decisions when specifying a professional PA system is whether to use active or passive speakers.

Active professional speakers integrate amplification into the loudspeaker enclosure. The amplifier and speaker drivers can therefore be designed and tuned as one system. When DSP is also integrated, crossover, EQ, protection and other processing functions can be optimized for the loudspeaker.

Passive speakers require an external professional power amplifier and usually provide greater flexibility when designing larger centralized systems.

OMB has extensive experience in Class D amplification, active speaker amplifier modules and DSP technologies, allowing our team to support customers who require integrated active speaker solutions as well as complete professional audio system matching.

What Should You Look for When Choosing Professional Speakers?

Professional speaker selection should not be based on wattage alone. Two speakers with similar power ratings can perform very differently in a real venue.

Maximum SPL

Maximum sound pressure level helps indicate how much acoustic output a speaker can deliver. Larger venues and high-energy live performances generally require higher SPL capability than conference rooms or speech applications.

Frequency Response

Frequency response shows the range of frequencies the loudspeaker is designed to reproduce. Full-range speakers handle a broad portion of the audio spectrum, while dedicated subwoofers are used when stronger low-frequency output is required.

Coverage Angle

Coverage determines how sound is distributed across the audience area. Selecting the correct horizontal and vertical dispersion helps provide more consistent sound without unnecessary overlap or dead zones.

Woofer and Driver Configuration

Common professional speaker sizes include 10-inch, 12-inch and 15-inch configurations. Driver size should be selected according to required output, low-frequency extension, portability and the intended application rather than size alone.

DSP Functions

DSP can provide EQ, crossover management, delay, limiting and speaker protection. For professional applications, correctly configured DSP helps achieve more consistent system performance and protects loudspeaker components under demanding operating conditions.

Amplification

For active speakers, amplifier performance should be considered together with the drivers and enclosure. Efficient Class D amplification can deliver high output from a compact platform while reducing heat and system weight.

12-Inch vs. 15-Inch Professional Speakers

Both sizes are widely used in professional PA systems, but they address slightly different requirements.

Consideration12-Inch Professional Speaker15-Inch Professional Speaker
PortabilityGenerally easier to transportUsually larger and heavier
Midrange ResponseWell suited to vocals and general PAStrong full-range capability
Low-Frequency OutputOften paired with a subwooferMore low-frequency extension in many designs
Typical ApplicationSpeech, events, monitors, mobile PALive music, DJs and larger PA applications
Subwoofer RequirementRecommended for extended bassStill recommended for high-impact low frequencies

For professional system design, the better option depends on venue size, crossover configuration, required SPL and whether dedicated subwoofers are included.

Professional Speakers for Different Applications

Live Events and Stage Performances

Live sound systems need sufficient output, clear vocals and stable performance at sustained operating levels. Professional active speakers with DSP are suitable for mobile PA, event production and performance systems where efficient setup and repeatable tuning are important.

Conference and Corporate Audio

For conferences and presentations, speech intelligibility and even coverage are often more important than maximum output. Column speakers and appropriately configured professional PA speakers can provide controlled sound distribution while keeping the system visually unobtrusive.

Touring and Rental Sound Systems

Rental companies require equipment that can withstand frequent transport, setup and operation. Speaker output, enclosure durability, system compatibility and fast configuration should therefore all be considered during equipment selection.

Fixed Installations

Professional speakers are also used in auditoriums, banquet halls, educational facilities, entertainment venues and commercial installations. Fixed systems should be designed around room dimensions, mounting location, coverage and long-term operating reliability.

Professional Speaker, Amplifier and DSP Integration

A professional loudspeaker does not operate independently from the rest of the audio system.

Speaker performance depends on correct matching between the driver, enclosure, amplifier, crossover and DSP configuration.

OMB develops professional power amplifiers, active speaker amplifier modules and DSP products in addition to professional loudspeakers. This enables our engineering team to evaluate the audio system as a complete signal and power chain rather than treating each component separately.

For active speaker projects, amplifier power, DSP configuration, crossover points, limiter settings and speaker characteristics can be considered together to achieve a more integrated system solution.

For larger installations, OMB can also support system configurations involving professional amplifiers, DSP processors and compatible speaker solutions.

How to Select the Right Professional Speaker System

When requesting a professional speaker recommendation, several project details help determine the correct configuration.

Information to ProvideWhy It Matters
Venue TypeDetermines basic speaker and system architecture
Venue DimensionsHelps estimate required coverage
Audience CapacityAffects output and system scale
Indoor or Outdoor UseInfluences enclosure and installation requirements
Live Music or SpeechChanges frequency and SPL requirements
Active or Passive PreferenceDetermines amplifier architecture
Subwoofer RequirementAffects low-frequency system design
DSP FunctionsDetermines tuning and control requirements
Installation or RentalInfluences portability and mounting requirements

Instead of choosing a speaker solely by wattage, send us your venue and application requirements and our team can help evaluate a suitable professional audio configuration.
